For this assignment I decided to do nature. I wanted to take advantage of the color changes happening in nature. I went around looking for different spots where there were trees whose leaves have changed. Best Photof/ 2.8 1/40 ISO 200 During this assignment I was kind of disappointed because it was very overcast the day I decided to take pictures. I think my pictures would've turned out better if it was sunny and there was a blue sky. Although, it was totally bad because I was working on adjusting my exposure triangle to fit how dark it was outside.

For this assignment I was given a picture of a car and had to edit it to match a demo picture. I had to do things such as remove the light reflections on the hood, blacken the background, and tint the windshield. To edit the picture I used adobe photoshop. OriginalEditedDemoDuring this assignment I learned how to use many more tools in photoshop. I learned how to use the brush tool to tint the windshield and blacken the back, the clone stamp tool to remove the light reflections on the hood, and the selection tool to select different part of the picture to edit or not edit. Overall, after this assignment I feel a lot more educated about using photoshop.
For my second photo assignment I decided to do macro. After looking at inspirational pictures I found that flowers were the best subject for this. I'm glad I decided to do this now because the flowers are going to start dying soon. Once I started taking pictures I was using the macro mode and they were coming out blurry, so I decided to just get very close to the subject. Best Photof / 2.8 1/15 ISO 80 During this assignment I learned how allowing the subject to be very close creates a striking image. If I try this again I will try to use macro mode again and try to figure out why the images came out blurry the first time.
For this assignment we followed step by step instructions to create a cool and colorful collage of pictures with different edits such as hue/saturation. During this assignment I learned a lot more about how to work photoshop. Before this, photoshop stressed me out because there are so many tools and functions in photoshop, but now I can somewhat find my way around.
For my second photo assignment I decided to focus on macro. Last week when I was taking pictures I was experimenting with nature. I found that taking pictures of flowers close up looked really good, so this week I think I will take more pictures of different flowers close up. Some inspirational pictures from Flickr:
For this assignment we were supposed to take many pictures that fall in a specific category or categories. I decided to take pictures of food because we were going out to a nice restaurant. I shot our desert because I thought it look very well presented. Best Photof / 8.0 1/5 ISO 200 In this picture I was having trouble with the exposure. This photo turned out blurry because I had my hands were not steady on the table. This photo assignment went ok, the end result was pretty good, but I feel I could've gotten a better picture. My batteries were low the whole time so I was limiting the amount of pictures I took. If that wouldn't have been the case, I wish I would have taken the time to make sure the food was set up and to check if the pictures came out ok (not blurry, not digital noise, proper exposure etc.).
I decided to focus on architecture for my first photo assignment. I find architecture very interesting. Around my area there are some old and new buildings, so I feel like I could get a good variety of pictures. Also, while I try and capture architecture I can use what I learned in the composition assignment like symmetry and perspective. Here are some pictures I found on Flickr for inspiration: These are great examples of how the photographer used different angles to capture eye pleasing pictures. I think I could use these techniques by choosing interesting buildings and finding good angles.
For this assignment we started out talking about the different functions of our cameras. After learning that we took notes and learned about different elements of composition. We spent several days taking pictures falling in the specific categories. Rule of ThirdsDepth of FieldLinesPatternI filled the frame with the fence which gives the impression of size. SymmetryTextureBalanceColorFramingGraces hands are highlighting the light which is the main point of interest. PerspectiveI shot from a high angle looking down on Grace. SpaceI learned a lot during this project. Going into this I didn't have that much knowledge about photography, but now I feel like I have a solid base on how to use a camera and the different elements of composition. The one thing that I did find challenging was not knowing exactly how my pictures turned out. I found that once I uploaded them to the computer some looked blurry, so I made sure once I re-took the picture that it was in focus and my hands were steady. Overall, this project was fun and taught me a lot about the basics of photography.
Hi I'm Katie Sloan. Welcome to my photo blog! I live in Saline, Michigan and attend Saline High School. My family consists of my mom, dad, and brother. My hobbies include sports, sleeping, and my phone. I took digital photography because I have always been interested in photography, but I have never been able to try it.
