The first day I walked into this class I didn't know what to expect, but I was excited. I didn't know anything about what goes into taking a picture or photoshop. Our first assignment was composition which I thought was going to be fun because we got to walk any where to take our photos, but I have to admit I was a little clueless about what goes into taking a good picture until I did research. I think I started off on a good note. The following weeks we started doing weekly photo assignments. That was stressing me out because I am a perfectionist and if my pictures didn't turn out very good that week I was frustrated, but I feel like that motivated me to really take the time to get good pictures. Overall, I feel that I can take high quality pictures now, as opposed to where I started. Best WeeksWorst Weeks As for photoshop, I started out struggling I would always forget what tools to use and I always had to look back at the instructions. As we did more photoshop assignments and I got familliar with the tools it got easier. To me some of the most useful tools are basic selection, levels, brightness & contrast, clone stamp etc. I now feel pretty secure with basic photoshop tasks.

During this assignment we had to create different pieces of photoshop work that showed different pictures that had to do with a word from the dictionary and visual puns. Overall this assignment was pretty easy because it included photoshop techniques that I already knew, but that made it fun.
For this assignment we had to watch/read tutorials for Adobe Photoshop. I picked a couple and re-created them. During this assignment I learned A LOT more about the different tools in photoshop. Some parts were a little difficult because the directions could sometimes get complicated, but I eventually figured it out.
For this assignment I decided to do black and white. Since this was our last assignment I thought I should do it since I felt like I hadn't used b&w much this year. I tried to take pictures that would look good once the filter was applied. OriginalEditedf / 2.8 1/60 ISO 80 I cropped it a little and added the black and white effect. I think my best picture turned out really well with the black and white. I looked on flickr to see what kind of pictures look good with black and white which helped. Overall, I feel like I learned more about what pictures look good in black and white.
For this assignment we had to take a picture on the school campus and alter it to fit a theme. Once we selected a picture we put it in photoshop and do our editing. For editing we used tools such as the selection tool, command+T(change size/shape) of images, and the brush tool. We also had to include a shadow. OriginalFinished ProductI learned a lot during this assignment. Initially I was having a lot of trouble because I missed the days we saw the demo, so I was struggling a lot with changing the sky. Eventually, I had help and I figured out the tools and how to change it. After I struggled with the sky it got easier, I really got practice with the selection tool and the transforming images.
For this assignment I decided to take pictures of a cat and try to use the rule of thirds. I tried to capture her actions, but it was a bit of a struggle to get her to stay still. OriginalEditedf / 2.8 1/15 ISO 80 I think the picture I turned in was my only good picture I took because I was having a really hard time getting the cat to stay still. Most of the pictures were turning out blurry. I was trying to work with the rule of thirds, but it was kind of difficult. Overall, I learned a little bit about exposure seeing as it was dark and I worked in photoshop darkening the back which helps my knowledge with the brush tool.
For this assignment I decided to do still life. I had some time on my hands so I set up a sheet and desk light. Then, I looked around for items that I could take photos of. OriginalEditedf / 8.0 1/60 ISO 250 I changed the levels a bit, boosted the contrast, and made the back a little darker. Overall during this assignment I played around with lighting a little. Also, in photoshop I worked with the selection and brush tools which is good practice.
During this assignment we had to take two portrait pictures. One was in the studio with lighting and a background and the second was using a bounce card and natural light. Best TwoFinished ProductOverall, I think my pictures turned out well. I learned that the bounce card really does help get rid of shadows on the face of the subject. I also learned with the right lighting pictures will turn out very good.
During this assignment we had to go out and take multiple pictures across the same landscape that we would eventually stitch together. Best TwoOther ThreeDuring this assignment I learned how to use photoshop to stitch photos together. Going into it I thought it would be hard and not turn out well, but with only a couple clicks the panos were stitched and had all the empty spaces filled. I also learned the set up of a tripod even though I didn't use one to take my photos.
For this assignment I decided to take photos of people. My family was going to a cider mill, so I decided to bring the camera to take pictures of my cousin. Original Best PhotoEditedf / 2.7 1/1000 ISO 80 I turned the brightness down and boosted the contrast a little bit. During this assignment I used my knowledge of the rule of thirds and how to work with different exposures. It was a very sunny day, so I changed my exposure triangle accordingly. Overall, on my last photo assignment I was taking photos while it was gloomy and this week it was very sunny, so I feel like I have a good grasp on exposures.
